Hot water heater 1.1 update
well the piping system I used didn’t work very well, I think the idea behind it is good, I just didn’t do a very good job putting it together. Had to much tube with to many turns in it and it didn’t allow the water to flow. Plus I didn’t seal my bottle and it leaked. But the up side is that during the hour we were at church 11:30-12:00 the outside temp was 40 deg and the air temp inside the oven got up over 180 deg. I’m going to try putting the water bottle inside the oven to see what temp it can get up to.
Hot water heater 1.1
The first test worked pretty well, so I’m adding a little to it today. Lined the inside of the casserole dish with some pieces of the car sun shield I cut up. Got some small plastic tubing and ran through the dish and attacked the tubing to a mountin dew bottle. Covered the dew bottle with pipe insulation and but a piece of polycarb roofing on top of the casserole dish instead of the plastic it came with. Put it in the van last night so I’ll have to see how it’s doing this morning when the sun comes up.
Our first thermal oven
Well put my first attempt at a solar oven together this afternoon. Made it out of a throw away tin foil casserole dish, a cheep thermometer, and a sun shield for our van. Right now I’m just trying to make something that can reflect the sun and make the thermometer go up. I put it in our van window, it is late in the day (2:30pm central) 23 Feb 08. it’s 38 deg F and overcast so if it heats up this afternoon that will be an accomplishment.
