p90x Day 11

Sorry haven’t blogged everyday but things are going good. Just got done with most of the Yoga X DVD, man that thing is hard, and am feeling really good. A week and a half in I’m seeing a slight change in the scales and the mirror, but the biggest change was the second round of workouts. I felt and preformed much better in week two and feel stronger. So I’m really enjoying it and looking forward to the next two and a half months.

First impressions of Uganda

Uganda truly is a beautiful country, I don’t think anyone reads my blog but if you do I highly recommend visiting this place if you ever get the chance. I didn’t find out til I got here but turns out the official language is . . . English, although the native language is Swahili but my limited experiences in town is that it is easy to communicate with the locals because most people here speak English pretty well, better than in Italy (that’s my only frame of reference). Went to a open air market couple days ago with some people I live with. The locals seem very friendly and helpful. Got kinda frustrated with some of the guys I was with (Americans) we were buying groceries and they were haggling over 500 shillings (25 cents) these people need the money alot more than we do and they work hard for it. I’m missing my family alot, but looking forward to my time here it’s quite the opportunityto do something unique. I would love to try out some of my sustainable living ideas here but I dought I’ll get the chance. An earthship would be great in this climate, it’s alot cooler than you would thing central Africa would be.

p90x Day 1

Well it’s my first full day in Uganda and lets get started with p90x, today was Chest & Back, and Ab Ripper X. Josh (my work out partner) and I did the first workout in the morning then Ab Ripper X after lunch. Neither workout was great form for either of us. We both feld like we had our butts kicked by the end. Took some before pictures, I look worse in them then I do in the mirror but I guess that’s why I’m doing this.

Haven’t blogged in a while, going to try to start p90x monday and blog about how it goes. Prabibly end up like all my other bloging and get board with it.

Writing a book

I’m going to start putting some thoughts together and maybe but them into a book. I’ve been thinking alot about the short comings of my guitar playing ability and my Christian life. I really enjoy both but see places where I don’t do a good job. Some times I’ll be talking about playing guitar and one of my friends ask me how long I’ve been playing and my response is always “about 10 years but I’m not very good” It’s true I have been playing for about 10 years, and I’m not very good, mainly because I don’t spend the time practicing to be a good guitarist. The comparison to my Christian life is I’ve been a what I would call a dedicated Christ follower for around 10 years, and really about the same person I was 10 years ago, and just like my guitar playing if I want things to change time spent “practicing” is what it takes.

Pesticide for my Organic Garden

Went out tonight and bought the cheapest box of box wine I could find, $8.25 for 5 liters at the class 6. I read online that wine made a good pesticide so since my tomato plants look like they are getting there leaves eaten by something I thought I’d give it a shot. I’ll follow up soon to tell how it’s going.

I’m such a lazy runner

I try to be a good runner but I’m not very good at it. I’ll go a month or so and run regularly then stop for months, so let’s give it another try. Going to get back on a running schedule and try to get back to running a 10K

Worm farmin’ update

The worm farmin’ went well, I took all my worms and that great dirt and put it in the corner of my back yard garden I still compost there and it is working pretty good. I think when it gets closer to winter I’ll bring the worms back inside or maybe get some more. But I think I’ll but a professional worm bin this year cause I couldn’t seam to get the air flow right in my home made one, but I would still rate the project as a success.
